Quite, on a dry road you dont need any tread on your tyres IYSWIM.
As for the loose calipers, I would have been straight round to my local Plod
shop most likely. They need to be up on a charge for that. No *really*. No
fucking excuse whatsoever. A decent workshop will have the foreman do a
quick sanity check before a bike leaves. Nothing else they could have done
was more likely to injure you.
On the bright side, despite being a big girls blouse, you didnt bin it on
the new tyres.
