Now I know MCN are well into scaremongering but...

Bennetts and NU are apparently not providing cover over the mountain
section because its being coned off and is one way for the fortnight.

I dont give a flying fuck because Im insured through Carole Nash who
say as long as riders arent pace making or racing then theyre ok but
if I was insured with Bennetts or NU then I might be tempted to check
what they have to say about it.

The other pov could be that if they dont actually tell me Im not
insured and something happens then it might be a case of see you in
court motherfuckers.

Anyone insured with the above fancy a punt at finding out the truth?

IANAE but surely it will still be a publicly maintained/adopted road?
Access is not being restricted just a temporary imposition of a one way
street.

I recall a former employer giving the roads on their 67 acre site street
names and getting them adopted by the local authority. This meant that
employees driving on site to the various car parks were covered on their
own car insurance, as long as commuting was agreed.

Cant see any specific mention.

Its BOLLOCKS!

The insurance companies have now realised that the mountain section is
still a public road carrying all manner of traffic wether it is one way
or not and cant wriggle out of their obligations should any customer
have an accident.

Of course this is because More Crap than News fearlessly intervened on
behalf of all motorcyclists everywhere ,regardless of their sex, race or
religion. Now isnt that nice?

Anyway with the number of bikes expected this year I expect to be in a
parade over the mountain. Be chuffed if I manage a good blast.

I dont think traffic will be a problem once youre past Ramsey
hairpin, just get your overtakes in as quickly as possible and watch
out for faster riders coming up behind you.

The only thing to be careful about is that theyll be putting put
cones on certain sections of the mountain to slow traffic and itll be
worth taking a sighter before embarking on a fast run.

Im fairly sure its nonsense, caused by MCN ringing up the insurers
and leading them on with some well chosen questions.

The mountain section will be a public road, subject to the road
traffic act. The only unusual thing about it is that the police will
have put a temporary one-way system in place. This is something the
police do all the time for special events (think about the roads
around Donington when the GP is on). As far as ones general terms
and conditions are concerned, you will still be insured. Of course,
an insurer could issue a special restriction, but that would require a
change in terms and conditions for all policyholders.

...and roadworks.

It sounds like absolute Grade A bollocks. Plus, theyd need to
communicate this to every policyholder, individually.
