Hello kiddies.

I have a vast music collection but fancied listening to a track I
didnt own. FrostWire was playing up too so I couldnt download it
from there so I downloaded and installed iTunes.

I couldnt think of any other online song purchasing sites so stumped
up 79p for the track I required which I now have. It plays in iTunes
but the software is a real resource hog and I much prefer WinAmp.

I dumped the m4p file into WinAmp which didnt like it. After a
quick hunt around it looks like a protected AAC file @ 128kbps.

How can I convert this encrypted AAC file into a non-encrypted AAC
file?

A short-term workaround was opening GoldWave, hitting record (sound
card to sound card so lossless) and then hitting play in iTunes, then
saving the file as an uncompressed .wav so that I may convert it to an
ogg or something later on, but its not an ideal solution but will
work in my iRiver.

Not surprising really iTunes is a media managment package, and will be
well OTT just for playing the odd track.

Correct, all the tracks on iTMS are encrypted.

The easiest workaround is to burn it to an audio CD, then re-import it
back again.

OK at the moment thanks Timo. Not doing much, as such, just learning to
be a single parent mostly. Not been on a bike since it all happened, so
Ive mostly been lurking here.

Indeed Ive gone the other way and now have a 4x4.

I trust you have better luck mechanically than usual?

Well, Ive just had a three-month hiatus and I must say, I dont miss
public transport at the moment. Glad to hear youre doing OK.

Ewwww ;)

> I trust you have better luck mechanically than usual?

Heh. Within the past seven days, I have:

- Had to recover my Honda CRX (MkII, no less) from the side of the M25
to Ashford because the dizzy rotor came lose. And today I shall pick up
another exhaust for it because the backfires had the rear silence blow
apart. Of course I didnt/dont have breakdown cover for it as its a
reliable Honda

- The RX-7 convertible just failed its MOT today and wants to get
aquainted with the bodyshop now. Most likely Ill have to sell the CRX
to pay for the bodywork.

- The fridge/freezer gave up the ghost last weekend

- Bought a BMW

Situation normal, Id say :).

I dont think normal reliability is a factor that applies to you!
