I have a Linksys Wireless-G access point, and before I moved house
everything was absolutely fine with my wireless network.

Ive just tried to set it up, and its not working right. Symptoms
are:

1) All the expected lights are on, including the WAN and LAN as
normal, thought theres a hell of a lot of WAN activity and *no* LAN
activity - this makes me thing next door has a similar system on the
same channel running - not the end of the world as Im all WEPed up.

2) I can get very strong signals on any wireless equiped PC Ive
tried, but none will pick up a network address, and so I cant access
the WAPs web gateway.

3) I have tried holding down the reset switch, but it makes FA
difference.

Any ideas of things to try?

I saw the same symptoms with a belkin, couldnt figure it out, so did a
full reset of the router and used a different wep key. Been fine ever since.

Is the link light on? There should be *something* even if its just
sending out broadcast packets or DHCP requests.

Configure the IP address of a PC wireless lan manually to be on the same
range. Just to be sure

Well, that would probably reset it to default. What model is it?

Sounds to me like its lost the IP address of the LAN. Assuming your
broadband router is doing DHCP, any idea what range its using, and
whats the default range of the AP?

IIWY Id plug a PC into the AP and check, you may need to configure the
IP of the PC manually.

Try running the router on channels 1, 6 and 11 in turn and see if
matters improve, those are the only non-overlapping channels.

A neighbour may be using the same frequency, but with SSID broadcast
disabled, so you cant see them fucking things up.

Can you see the router interface when you hook it up to the PC with an
ethernet cable?

How long did you hold the reset swich in for? Not familiar with Linksys
but on Netgears you hold the rest switch in while you turn it on to get
a hardware reset.
