When I bought the bike I asked how many gears it had, the (then) owner said
five, the internet said 6, other people said 5.
Just been out for my first real hoon-et on the bike. It has six.

Whats going on, do all B6s have 6 or only the very early ones?

I feel like a member of Spinal Tap, The numbers all go to eleven.
Look...right across the board.

In other news - Yes, I did have fun, even on new tires.

Did the (then) owner actually ride it?

Mine has six gears too. If you look on the side of the casing near the
gear lever, youll notice that there is 65432N1 written there, the 6
being at the top and 1 being at the bottom.

The GS550L loaner I had had one of those, only it read:

8... 8... 8... 8... 8... 8...

That was nothing, though, compared to the rock-solid shocks, and leaky
forks. Or the complete lack of go.

I was glad to give it back.
